Ruth Agbolade Art - Upcycle Artist

As an Afrocentric abstract artist specializing in Cubism, my work is a celebration of cultural heritage, vibrant expression, and the complex interplay of textures and forms.

 

My artistic journey is deeply rooted in my Afrocentric identity. I draw inspiration from the rich collection of African-Adinkra symbols, weaving these elements into the fabric of my Cubist compositions. With traditional motifs and symbols, I aim to create works that resonate with a sense of familiarity and pride with each piece showcasing the beauty, strength and resilience of the African culture.

 

Color is at the heart of my creative process. I use a palette of vibrant, bold hues to convey emotions, stories, and a sensory journey that evokes feelings of joy, hope, and energy. Cubism allows me to explore the complexity of perspective and form by challenging the viewer to engage with the work from various angles.

 

I utilize mixed media to create rich, layered surfaces that invite touch and exploration. My work is a testament to the enduring spirit of African people and their ability to adapt, transform, and thrive. Through abstract forms and futuristic elements, I envision a world where cultural roots are honored and seamlessly integrated into modern life.
